Work All Week Preps For Next Start

Champion sprinter Work All Week (City Zip) fired a best-of-16 five-furlong bullet in :59.40 Sunday at the Churchill Downs Training Center in preparation for his next start in Gulfstream's GII Smile Sprint S. July 5. The chestnut was last seen finishing second in his seasonal bow in Churchill's GIII Aristides S. May 30, and came out of that race with a bruised foot.

“The work went the way we planned,” said owner/breeder Richard Papiese of Midwest Thoroughbreds. “He kind of did it easy. We'll see how he comes out of it. His foot doesn't seem to be bothering him. He seems to be responding. The plan is to work probably next Sunday. If everything's 'a go,' he'll get on a plane.”

After winning a series of listed stakes in the mid-west last term, Work All Week captured Keeneland's GIII Phoenix S. Oct. 3 and clinched the Eclipse award with a victory in the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint Nov. 1 at odds of 19-1.
