DBS have released the catalogue on-line for their Premier Yearling Sale which takes place at their Doncaster sales complex August 25-26. 511 yearlings are catalogued with a large number of smartly bred youngsters bidding to improve on last year's impressive gains that was headed by a £230,000 Starspangledbanner (Aus) (Choisir {Aus}) colt, one of twenty one six-figure lots that contributed to a turnover of £15,512,500, up 17% on the previous year. Last year's average rose by 14% to £37,111 and the median was up 8% at £27,000. DBS managing director Henry Beeby said, “We've been very proactive this year in targeting yearlings for this sale as well as working hard to make sure that consignors are aware of what DBS Premier is achieving both in the ring and on the track. The results have been very positive and we are delighted that our efforts were met with willing vendors who have chosen this sale to offer some of their best yearlings, for which we are very appreciative.”
The catalogue is impressive and some lots that standout immediately are lot 372, a Dark Angel (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}) full brother to G2 Superlative S. winner Birchwood (Ire) who lines out in the G2 Vintage S. at Goodwood Tuesday. Lot 478 is a daughter of first crop yearling sire Dragon Pulse (Ire) (Kyllachy {GB}) and her half-sister Illuminate's (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) exploits in bagging a brace of stakes races has ensured she will be popular with buyers. Further interest is added by the eighteen stallions who are represented by their first crop of yearlings. These include Bated Breath (GB) (Dansili {GB}), Excelebration (Ire) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}), Foxwedge (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), Harbour Watch (Ire) (Acclamation {GB), Nathaniel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Sir Prancealot (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}), among others.
