Ran Jan Racing's GII John C. Mabee S. winner Moulin de Mougin (Curlin) has been retired from racing due to age related issues. The 5-year-old will be given some downtime at owner Jan Vandebos Naify's Springtime Farm in California for a few months before going to Kentucky to join the family's broodmare band at Taylor Made.
Trained by Hall of Famer Richard Mandella, the bay retires with a record of 16-4-2-2 and earnings of $313,660. She finished third in Santa Anita's GIII Royal Heroine S. last term and sprung the upset in Del Mar's John C. Mabee next time out. She finished off the board in two starts this term.
Out of MGSW turfer Cambiocorsa (Avenue of Flags), Moulin de Mougin is a half-sister to GSW Schiaparelli (Ghostzapper) and SW Alexis Tangier (Tiznow). Her dam is a half to MGSW millionaire California Flag (Avenue of Flags).
