A Two-Million Dollar Tapit

The Tapit show continued deeper into the evening Monday at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga, as hip 70, a Four Star Sales-consigned son of the Gainesway inmate, lit up the tote board to the tune of an even $2 million. Bred by Ben Sangster, the Irish-bred bay quickly climbed through the million-dollar threshold and raced right past the $1.2 million achieved by hip 34. Bidding reached the $1.8-million mark and a $50,000 salvo followed before an unusual $150,000 increment sealed the deal for the El Capi Racing Stable. A son of GSW Dress Rehearsal (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), hip 70 is a full-brother to Christophermarlowe, a $200,000 graduate of this sale in 2013 who was third in this year’s Lingfield Derby Trial S. for Michael Tabor and Rachel Hood, the wife of trainer John Gosden.
