+GET JETS (c, 2, Scat Daddy–Sunny, by Dixieland Band) was purchased for $300,000 at this year’s OBS April sale despite a furlong that went in ‘only’ :11 flat, but ran to his 5-2 odds with an explosive performance on debut against fellow New York-breds Wednesday afternoon. Armed with a trio of spectacular-looking works over the deep Oklahoma training track, Get Jets drew the one hole for this first go and left there running, but was outsprinted and settled last but one while taking dirt along the inside to the turn of the six-furlong heat. Angled out into the clear and out of the kickback with 3 1/2 furlongs to race, Get Jets jumped into the bridle and began to slingshot past horses nearing the lane. The handsome chestnut was able to sustain his momentum, maintained a straight path in the final eighth of a mile and romped in by 4 1/2 impressive lengths over Love That Jazz (Not For Love). Hailing from the female family of Grade I winners Quiet America, Dare and Go, Go Deputy and Japanese top-level scorer A Shin Forward, Get Jets was purchased for $162,000 out of last year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-Bred sale.
