Harlan’s Holiday Filly Rallies to Remain Unbeaten at Monmouth

Hi Holiday rallied to a dominant 7 1/2-length score over this same trip and track Aug. 22 and followed up with a thrilling late-running score to register a career high here. Overlooked at odds of 13-1, the bay raced along the rail at the rear of a tightly bunched pack as fellow longshot Crystal Rosario led through a pedestrian quarter-mile in :23.07 and a half in :47.35. Guided out to the three-path in midstretch, she uncorked a stout rally to tag the pacesetter on the wire by a nose and remain unbeaten. Heavily favored Island Saint, a debut winner in an off-the-turfer at Saratoga July 30, was third. “Trevor [McCarthy] rode her perfectly,” winning trainer Joe Orseno said. “He sat patiently, kept her out of trouble and angled her out for clear sailing. It was a real impressive race from her. The Sorority is a very prestigious race. I’m from New Jersey and the Greens [DJ Stable] are from New Jersey, so this means a lot to us.” Hi Holiday’s dam produced a colt by Animal Kingdom this spring. The winner’s third dam is GISW Magnificent Lady.
