Simple Verse Added To Leger Field

Progressive filly Simple Verse (Ire) (Duke Of Marmalade {Ire}) has been supplemented for the G1 St. Leger at Doncaster this coming Saturday at a cost of £50,000. The Ralph Becket trained filly was un-raced as a juvenile but has shown smart form this year and most recently won the G3 Lily Langtry S. at Goodwood over the St. Leger trip of a mile and six furlongs. The 3-year-old also holds an entry in the G2 Park Hill S. for fillies only on Thursday but connections are keen to give her a chance at Classic glory. David Redvers, racing manager for part-owners Qatar Racing, told the Racing Post, “She has scoped clean and looks in great order so she has been supplemented for the Leger.” No filly has won the St. Leger since 1992 although Ralph Beckett has gone close twice in recent years. He sent out Look Here (GB) (Hernando {Fr}) to finish third in 2008 and Talent (GB) (New Approach {Ire}) to finish second in 2013.
