TDN Rising Star Antonoe Stays Perfect in Prix d’Aumale

Updated: September 8, 2015 at 8:32 pm

Bolstered by the subsequent wins of the vanquished in a debut performance which oozed class and attracted a ‘TDN Rising Star’ tag going 7 1/2 panels in a newcomers’ test at Deauville in her only prior start Aug. 7, Antonoe (First Defence) was just as impressive as that 6 1/2-length debut romp to set a platform for higher goals in Tuesday’s G3 Prix d’Aumale at Chantilly. In command after the initial strides, she was set alight approaching the final quarter mile and powered clear under minimal urging in the closing stages to easily outclass her rivals for a career high. “She really is a lovely filly and won very well in her debut at Deauville,” commented trainer Pascal Bary. “You are always a little worried going into the second race because you hope they’ll confirm that initial promise, but you can never be certain they will. She did that in some style today and, if everything is well, she will return in the [Oct. 4 G1] Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp.”
