Street Cry Filly Bookends the Day

An elegant filly from one of the final crops of Street Cry (Ire) provided a six-figure bookend to Wednesday’s third and final Book 1 session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, achieving a final bid of $1.05 million from Mandy Pope, who saw off owners Kaleem Shah and Bernie Schiappa. Consigned by Talyor Made on behalf of Gerald Ford’s Diamond A Racing Corp., hip 718 is the latest produce of Tizso (Cee’s Tizzy), making her a half-sister to GISW Paynter (Awesome Again) and two other full stakes winners under the first dam. Tizso is, in turn, a full-sister to champion and dual GI Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Tiznow and his full-siblings Budroyale, Tizdubai and Tizbud. Hip 718 was the day’s sixth seven-figure sale and took the overall total for Book 1 to 11 such horses. A total of 13 horses brought better than $1 million in 2014.
