LIBRETA (f, 2, Girolamo–Enrichment, by Ghostzapper) led wire-to-wire to become her freshman sire (by A. P. Indy)’s ninth winner. The bay closed into a slow pace to finish third behind ‘TDN Rising Star’ Width (Blame) in her 5 1/2-panel unveiling at Saratoga Aug. 23 and added Lasix for this second start. Showing drastically improved speed from the gate, the 5-2 co-second choice set the pace through fractions of :22.81 and :46.49. The bay shook loose from the others cornering for home and pulled clear to a dominant 6 1/2-length score, with Castor (Malibu Moon) rallying behind her to complete the exacta. The winner’s dam is a half to MGISW millionaire Better Lucky (Ghostzapper), as well as recent New York maiden winners Proven Commodity (Bernardini) and Desert Tune (Street Cry {Ire})–all three of whom competed for this same owner and trainer combination. Libreta’s third dam is GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Desert Stormer (Storm Cat). Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $53,300. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
