Rock Fall Excellent

Stonestreet Stable’s Rock Fall (Speightstown) exited his win in Saturday’s GI Vosburgh H. in fine shape, according to trainer Todd Pletcher.

“He’s excellent. He looked pretty good this morning,” Pletcher reported. “He came out of the race well. I was very pleased [with the race]. I thought he showed some determination. He kind of got surrounded by horses in the middle of the stretch and he was able to fend off a couple of different challenges. It was a big effort.”

The Vosburgh was Rock Fall’s seventh straight victory and followed his narrow score in the Aug. 1 GI Alfred G. Vanderbilt H.

“It’s pretty hard to maintain that kind of consistency in the sprint division,” Pletcher added. “It’s quite an accomplishment for him to be able to win seven races in a row.”

The Pletcher-trained Liam’s Map (Unbridled’s Song), prepping for either the GI Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile or GI Breeders’ Cup Classic, worked four furlongs over the Belmont training track Saturday in :49.49. It was the 4-year-old’s first work since winning the Sept. 5 GI Woodward S. He is expected to ship to Kentucky with Pletcher’s other Breeders’ Cup contenders next Wednesday.

“Pretty much everything that’s not running next weekend,” Pletcher said of shipping plans.
