Wedding Toast Cup Bound

Wedding Toast (Street Sense) shipped back to Godolphin’s Greentree Training Center after her win in Saturday’s GI Beldame S. and will continue preparations for the GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff at that upstate New York site.

“She’s great, back at Greentree and happy,” said trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. Of the Beldame, McLaughlin added, “It’s not like me to tell a jock not to have a hard race on her if you don’t have to. But it looked like, on paper, that we were that much the best. It worked out well. Not too often are you 3-5. We just looked that good. It was a great spot for us. Now it’s on to the Breeders’ Cup.”

The Beldame was Wedding Toast’s third straight victory. The 5-year-old mare also won the May 9 GII Ruffian S. and June 6 GI Ogden Phipps S.

McLaughlin also has GI Breeders’ Cup Classic contender Frosted (Tapit) and GI Breeders’ Cup F/M Turf hopeful Sentiero Italia (Medaglia d’Oro) stabled at Greentree.

“We’re going to watch the weather,” McLaughlin said of his training plans. “We’re going to keep them at Greentree until it snows up there. If it gets really cold, we can move them here, move them to Keeneland. But they’re training well at the synthetic track up there, so we don’t really want to change it.”
