Class Tells As Dalakhani’s Candarliya Takes the Royallieu

Having already garnered the G2 Prix Chaudenay an hour earlier, His Highness The Aga Khan and Alain de Royer-Dupre combined with Candarliya to continue a strong beginning to Longchamp’s Arc weekend and register an eighth renewal of this prize. Off the mark at the fourth attempt upped to a mile and a half in a conditions race at Chantilly May 15, the grey moved up to 14 furlongs next time to add a similar contest to her tally here June 8 before returning to this venue to collect the Listed Prix de Thiberville over 12 furlongs July 14. After winning Deauville’s G3 Prix Minerve over this trip Aug. 16, the homebred was six-lengths second to Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}) in the G1 Prix Vermeille over a mile and a half here last time Sept. 13 and scared off most of the meaningful opposition as a result. Settled in mid-division early by Christophe Soumillon, she was traveling strongly to the quarter pole and was shaken up to take over shortly after. Given some slaps with the whip to make sure, Candarliya scored ultimately comfortably despite the rally of Lady of Kyushu. “What a brave filly she is–every time she has raced she has said yes,” trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre commented. “She tries so hard and deserved that after the Vermeille. She has run quite a lot this season and is through, but she will stay in training in 2016.”
