Daniel Wildenstein Goes To Invincible Spirit’s Impassable
Updated: October 3, 2015 at 1:02 pm
Not seen since winning the G2 Prix de Sandringham over this trip at Chantilly at the end of May, Impassable returned in rude health to book a potential ticket to the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile by coming out on top in a filly-dominated renewal. Having beaten the subsequent G1 Prix Saint-Alary runner-up and G3 Prix Chloe winner Wekeela (Fr) (Hurricane Run {Ire}) in a mile conditions event at Chantilly May 2, the bay had returned to that track and trip to stamp some authority on the Sandringham on the Prix du Jockey Club undercard before illness stopped her momentum. Nursed back by Carlos Laffon-Parias, the homebred was denied an easy re-introduction here with last year’s G1 1000 Guineas heroine Miss France in attendance. Settled with one behind early by Olivier Peslier, Impassable was delivered out wide to wrest the lead from that rival with a furlong remaining and was always comfortably holding her rally on the run to the line. Pierre-Yves Bureau, racing manager for the Wertheimers, said, “She had an infection after the Sandringham, but is very well now and we will discuss the Breeders’ Cup Mile as a possibility.”
