Talco Passes Away

Hronis Racing’s GI Shoemaker Mile winner Talco (Pivotal {GB}–Trylko, by Diesis {GB}) passed away passed away due to complications from a recent arthroscopic surgery, trainer John Sadler confirmed.

A two-time winner in France early last year, the 4-year-old finished third in that term’s GII Del Mar Derby and GI Hollywood Derby. He scored his first American victory in an Arcadia optional claimer Mar. 12 and captured that venue’s Thunder Road S. next out Apr. 4.

Second in the GIII American S. there May 9, the chestnut won an all expenses paid trip to the Breeders’ Cup with his success in the Shoemaker June 13, but was going to miss that event due to the chip removal surgery. Second in the GII Del Mar H. Aug. 23, Talco was fourth last time in Santa Anita’s GII City of Hope Mile S. Sept. 27.

Talco had a record of 17-5-5-3 and earnings of $543,123.
