+MOONLIGHT MAGIC (GB) (c, 2, Cape Cross {Ire}–Melikah {Ire} {SW-Eng, G1SP-Eng & Ire, $125,309}, by Lammtarra) raced in fifth through the early fractions of this unveiling. Making stealthy headway in the straight, the 4-6 chalk arrived on the front approaching the final furlong and was ridden out to hold the late thrust of Embiran (Ire) (Shamardal) by a neck. “He’s a lovely, big horse and when I asked him he picked up,” said rider Kevin Manning of the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas entry. “He’s got a good temperament and has ability, and will make a lovely 3-year-old. He handled that ground fine, but has raw ability and is a nice horse in the making.” The bay, a grandson of blue hen Urban Sea (Miswaki), is a half to Masterstroke (GB) (Monsun {Ger}), GSW & G1SP-Fr, $871,109 and Hidden Gold (Ire) (Shamardal), SW & MGSP-Eng, $211,205. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $9,398. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
