Tatts Autumn Hit Sale Begins Monday
The 1679-lot strong Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale begins Monday at Park Paddocks in Newmarket and features over 100 Group and listed performers on display during its four-day run, Oct. 26-Oct. 29, with each session beginning at 9:30 a.m. local time. The sale hopes to build on previous years, with a record gross of 24,304,100gns attained in 2014 for 922 head sold.
Despite the withdrawal of G1 Deutsches Derby victor Lucky Speed (Ire) (Silvano {Ger}) (lot 772), the sale is well-populated with choice offerings, headed by lot 745, Qatar Racing-owned Pallasator (GB) (Motivator {GB}), victorious in the G2 Doncaster Cup in mid-September hailing from the consignment of Heath House Stables. The 5-year-old gelding is out of Group 3 winner Ela Athena (GB), who was placed at the highest level in four different countries from the United States, England, Italy and Hong Kong.
The top rated 2-year-old in the catalogue is Final Frontier (Ire) (Dream Ahead), selling as lot 728. Already a Group 3 winner, the Commonstown Racing Stables-consigned bay ran with credit behind MG1SW Air Force Blue (War Front) when fourth in the G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien National S. at The Curragh Sept. 13.
A late arrival to the catalogue, wildcard Custom Cut (Ire) (Notnowcato {GB}) sells as lot 993A. Consigned by David O’Meara’s Helmsley Horse Racing, the MGSW gelding has earned in excess of £500,000.
As the largest sale of its kind, the Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale boasts some sizable consignments including a 95-head grouping from Jaime Railton. The largest consignment from the training ranks is Richard Hannon’s East Everleigh Stables with 86. Juddmonte Farms boasts 59 lots, while Shadwell Stud offers 63 to go under the hammer.
“Unique is the word that springs to mind when thoughts turn to the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahoney. “There is no sale quite like it anywhere else and this year’s catalogue matches quantity with quality. The key to the Autumn Horses in Training Sale is that there will be a horse to suit pretty well every possible requirement for every corner of the globe, and we look forward to welcoming the usual diverse cross section of buyers.”
