Arod Targets Emirates S.
Qatar Racing’s MGSW and G1 Al Shaqab Lockinge S. third Arod (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}), 11th in the G1 W. S. Cox Plate, will target the one-mile G1 Emirates S. on the final day of the G1 Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington Nov. 7 according to Racing and Sports. It was the Peter Chapple-Hyam trainee’s first racetrack appearance since finishing runner-up to the remarkable Solow (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) in the G1 Sussex S. at Goodwood in July.
“I had a concern that he was a bit distressed after the race,” jockey Craig Williams told Racing and Sports. “I spoke with David Redvers [racing manager for Sheikh Fahad al Thani of Qatar Racing] last night and felt that the way the race was run this year, with the competition, it might not have been the most suitable race. The aim will be, all going well, that he will run in the Emirates. It would be great to see him at Flemington on a bigger flatter track.”
