Not This Time's Blackout Time Blows The Doors Off The Pea Patch To Earn 'Rising Star'

Ready to roll in his second career race, Blackout Time (Not This Time–Beauty Parlor, by Elusive Quality) did not disappoint his backers as he ran up the score at Ellis Park on Saturday afternoon and earned himself a shiny new 'TDN Rising Star' for his coat.

In his debut at Churchill Downs June 29, the colt was a runner-up to Dazzle d'Oro (Bolt d'Oro) who garnered himself a 'Rising Star' for that effort. Sadly, Dazzle d'Oro had to be humanely euthanized after sustaining a catastrophic injury during training at Saratoga last week.

Blackout Time was marked for heavy favoritism here and vied for the top spot with Password (Uncle Mo) up the backstretch. Wearing down his rival around the far turn, the Ken McPeek trainee spun into the lane with a firm grip on the wheel and proceeded to run up the score by 9 3/4 lengths. I Did I Did (Curlin) was the runner-up.

A $325,000 purchase at the 2019 Keeneland November Sale by Broadhurst Agency while a colt by Uncle Mo was in-utero, the winner's dam is responsible for a yearling filly by Epicenter and a weanling filly by Practical Joke. Beauty Palor was entered in Corniche's book for next term. The successful first-time starter's grand dam is French group stakes victress Moon Queen (Ire) (Sadler's Wells), who also produced French listed winner The Brothers War (War Front).

Blackout Time is Not This Time's ninth 'TDN Rising Star' overall and his fifth this year.
