Aqueduct Winter and Spring Stakes Schedule Unveiled

Aqueduct Racetrack will run 49 stakes worth $7.5 million over the course of its Winter and Spring meets, the New York Racing Association announced Friday. The Winter meet, which begins Jan. 1, features five graded stakes, including three for 3-year-olds–the $200,000 GII Jerome S. Jan. 2, the $250,000 GIII Withers S. Jan. 30 and the $400,000 GIII Gotham S. Mar. 5. The Apr. 4 $1-million GI Wood Memorial S., a final round prep for the GI Kentucky Derby, headlines the Ozone Park oval’s Spring Showcase meet, which kicks off Apr. 2. It will be supported that day by the GI Carter H. for older sprinters; GII Gazelle S. for sophomore fillies; the GII Bay Shore S. for 3-year-old sprinters; and GIII Excelsior S. for older horses at 1 1/4 miles.
