Andre Fabre has snapped up champion jockey Oisin Murphy to ride My Highness (Ghaiyyath) in the Betfred 1,000 Guineas on Sunday.
Fabre, who last won the fillies' Classic in 2014 with Miss France, moved quickly once he knew Murphy would be available.
The Godolphin-owned My Highness won three of her four outings as a juvenile, including a Group 2 at Deauville. She was beaten in the Prix Imprudence earlier this month, but Fabre was not too concerned by that and can point to the fact Miss France also suffered defeat in the same race before going on to Classic glory.
“I'm happy with her since the Imprudence,” Fabre said. “She works all right so she will take her chance, I think Newmarket will suit her. Being by Ghaiyyath stepping up to a mile should definitely suit her and the mile at Newmarket is a test. More so, she is more of a Prix de Diane filly.”
He added, “Miss France was beaten in the Prix Imprudence. It doesn't worry me when they are beaten in trials, that one is a very early race in soft ground so it is not a concern. My concern was actually that she was looking very wintry, but now she is starting to blossom. Oisin is going to ride. I think when you book Oisin you are booking more than just a local jockey! He rides a bit for me as he is retained by Prince Faisal (owner) who has horses with me.”
