Amo Racing USA's much-ballyhooed Regent's Park (c, 2, Bolt d'Oro–Spark, by Speightstown), a $1.4-million purchase out of last year's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale, ran to his good looks over a rain-affected Monmouth main track Monday afternoon, scoring by 3 1/4 lengths without being asked a serious question to become a rapid-fire second Memorial Day 'TDN Rising Star' presented by Hagyard.

Drawn the rail in a scratched-down field of four, the scopey bay colt was quickly into stride and made the running a path or two off the sloppy inside rail for leading rider Paco Lopez, getting the first couple of furlongs in :23.30.

A bit wide into the lane, Regent's Park was merely pointed in the direction of the finish line by his Classic-winning reinsman, stopping the timer in a strong :52.59. He covered his final sixteenth of a mile in :6.14, prevailing virtually untouched and more comprehensively than the bare margin may indicate, suggesting plenty more to come over the coming weeks and months.

All things equal, that next start could come in the GIII Sanford Stakes at Saratoga on July 4, according to trainer Jorge Delgado.

“This was not the destination today. This was just the first step,” Delgado, last year's leading local conditioner, told the Monmouth Park press office. “This is what we needed. We weren't looking to break the track record today. We're looking to breeze him four or five more times now to get him more fitness for the Sanford Stakes.”

For his part, Lopez believes there is better to come from Regent's Park.

“He was a little green, looking around a lot, but you expect them to be looking around when they're babies and racing for the first time,” said Lopez. “You can tell he has a lot of talent. He's not going to have any trouble going longer. He's really not a sprinter. Longer will be better for him.”

Regent's Park is the fourth winner from seven starters for his dam, whose three stakes-placings included a third in this track's Miss Woodford Stakes for breeder Peter Blum and trainer Allen Iwinski in 2015.

Regent's Park's second dam Mon Belle was a full-sister to 2001 GI Kentucky Derby hero Monarchos, and the then 3-year-old filly was acquired by Blum for $290,000 at Keeneland November in 2005. Mated with Empire Maker in her first season as a broodmare, Mon Belle produced the filly Supreme, who outran her $80,000 (KEESEP) purchase price to become a stakes winner and Grade III-placed before changing hands for $800,000 at KEENOV in 2013. The page became even more valuable when Supreme's son Silver State (Hard Spun) won the 2021 GI Hill 'n' Dale Met Mile Handicap and now serves mares at Claiborne Farm.

Regent's Park is a half-brother to Launch (Omaha Beach), SW-US, GSP-Ire, $196,660; and to Rebellious Stage (Justify), who reached a high rating of 109 in Saudi Arabia after being acquired for $200,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton July Horses of Racing Age Sale. Spark, who was retained after failing to reach her reserve at KEESEP in 2013, is also the dam of the yearling filly Sparkle (Cody's Wish) and Blum stuck with the Curlin line for her latest mating to Classic winner Dornoch.
