Zoffany (Ire) (Dansili {GB}), Europe's champion first-season sire of 2015, notched his first winner Down Under when Persistent Shadow (Aus) won the opening 1050 meter maiden at Mackay Thursday at second asking. The 2-year-old filly is out of Green Mirage (Aus) (Green Desert), whose yearling colt by Zoffany sold for A$300,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this month. Persistent Shadow therefore is bred on the same cross as Zoffany's dual group winner Illuminate (Ire) and Listed Windsor Castle winner Washington DC (Ire), the latter being out of a daughter of Green Desert's son Shinko Forest (Ire).
