Winchell Thoroughbreds' homebred Untapable (Tapit), the champion 3-year-old filly of 2014, returned to the worktab with an easy four-furlong move in :52 (52/57) at Fair Grounds Thursday. The five-time Grade I winner finished a game second when last seen in the GI Juddmonte Spinster S. at Keeneland Oct. 4. The 5-year-old was forced to miss a title defense in the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff due to a fever.

“Untapable is doing great,” trainer Steve Asmussen said after the work.

David Fiske, Winchell's racing manager, added, “She went from Keeneland to the farm to spend some time in the hyperbaric chamber. She was turned out in round pens and had a little break and then got to the Fair Grounds around the second week of December.”

Fisked continued, “We haven't decided on [a campaign] or anything yet, but the [GI] Apple Blossom [at Oaklawn Park Apr. 15] is a possibility. It all depends on how she comes around and it's still a ways out. Right now she looks great and [Asmussen] said he's really happy with how she's doing.”

Asmussen added that Mike Rutherford homebred Stageplay (Curlin), heroine of the Silverbulletday S. Jan. 16, will be pointed to the second leg of the three major local steppingstones to the GI Kentucky Oaks, the GII Rachel Alexandra S. Feb. 20.
