Murphy, Lane Out Of Action

Oisin Murphy | Racing Post

Jockeys Oisin Murphy and Martin Lane will both be briefly sidelined after falls Wednesday. Murphy broke his collarbone after being dislodged from Vivacissimo (Ire) (Muhtathir {GB}), who slipped and fell on the turn and was fatally injured at Southwell. Murphy rode in the next race, finishing second on the Andrew Balding-trained Mystic Blaze (Ire) (Arcano {Ire}). Balding said, “He broke his collar bone when he had the fall and will be out for three or four weeks. He took the ride after it and rode through the pain but then took himself off to hospital. I think they said he had snapped his clavicle.”

Lane, meanwhile, is expected to be out about a week after falling from Wink Oliver (GB) (Winker Watson {GB}) at Kempton Wednesday. “He's stiff and sore and will be out for a week to 10 days,” said his agent Simon Dodds, who added that Lane will be back in action before heading off for a brief stint in Dubai. “He's looking forward to riding in Dubai for a couple of weeks and then coming back for the all-weather championships finals on Good Friday.”
