Kitten's Joy Firster Scores in Singapore

Mr Luck | Singapore Turf Club

Sent off at odds of 13-2 for this belated racecourse debut over the minimum trip, Mr Luck (Kitten's Joy) was off a touch slowly before mustering up the fence to argue the pace inside of a rival. Shuffled back into a clear second on the turn, he reengaged the front-runner leaving the final corner and sprinted well down the lane to take it by a good-looking 3 1/2-length margin (VIDEO). “I was taken by the fact he had El Prado (Ire) in his pedigree,” said Desmond Koh, who trained in California with Hall of Famer Jack van Berg. “That's why I targeted a Polytrack race for him first-up and [jockey] Benny [Woodworth] rated him very well in front. Thanks to the owners for giving me this horse to train. On that run, he sure looks like he has ability.” Added the Malaysian rider, “He jumped very well and once I had him in front, he was always travelling on the bridle. Even when Alan [Munro]'s mare [Prechagorda {NZ} {Bachelor Duke}] came up to us, he was still going very well and in the home straight, once I asked him to go, he gave a very strong kick.”
