While Artie Schiller's Flying Artie (Aus) couldn't quite get the job done in the G1 Blue Diamond S. at Caulfield Saturday, finishing second from a wide draw and after a tough trip, that Kentucky-based shuttle sire did notch a 2-year-old stakes winner Saturday at Randwick in the form of Good Standing (Aus), who staked his G1 Golden Slipper claims with a win in the G2 Skyline S. It was a one-length maiden-breaking win for the James Cummings trainee, who was second on debut at Rosehill in November. He bested the stoutly bred Lionhearted (Aus), a Fastnet Rock (Aus) colt out of Black Caviar (Aus) (Bel Esprit {Aus})'s second dam Scandinavia (Aus) (Snippets {Aus}). Artie Schiller, who stands Southern Hemisphere-time at Emirates Park Stud in the Hunter Valley for A$13,200, has now sired 11 stakes winners Down Under.
Later on the Randwick card, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Scarlet Rain (Aus) (Manhattan Rain {Aus}) ran her record to three-for-three in the fillies' Slipper prep, the G2 Sweet Embrace S., under rider Kathy O'Hara.
Good Standing firmed into 12-1 for the Golden Slipper, While Scarlet Rain is at 20-1. 'TDN Rising Star' and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Capitalist (Aus) (Written Tycoon {Aus}) remains the 11-4 Slipper favorite, with Saturday's Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice (Aus) (Not A Single Doubt {Aus}) second in the ante-post wagering for the Mar. 19 contest at 9-2.
