Intilaaq Tunes Up For World Cup

Sheikh Hamdan homebred Intilaaq (Dynaformer) prepared for a likely next outing in the $10 million G1 Dubai World Cup Mar. 26 with a 10 furlong gallop at Chelmsford City Friday night. The 4-year-old 'TDN Rising Star' worked in company with Roger Varian stablemates Ektihaam (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire})–also a 'TDN Rising Star'–and One Pekan (Ire) (Hard Spun). Intilaaq was ridden by Richard Hills.

“Intilaaq went very well and pleased us,” said Varian. “He behaved very well. He traveled well in behind and quickened nicely when Richard asked him to. The exercise went very smoothly and it would have brought him on another notch. He gets shipped out to Dubai next week and we are very happy with his condition. I think the likely race for him is the Dubai World Cup.”

Intilaaq caught the eye when breaking his maiden by eight lengths at Newbury last April, but disappointed when 15th of 18 in the G1 2000 Guineas two weeks later. He rebounded to take the Listed JLT S. over 10 furlongs in July, and added the G3 Rose Of Lancaster S. going 10 1/2 furlongs when last seen Aug. 8.
