Trainer Dean Ivory issued updates Sunday on his pair Lancelot Du Lac (Ity) (Shamardal) and Kadrizzi (Fr) (Hurricane Cat), who are set to compete on the £1.1 million All-Weather Championship Finals Day at Lingfield Park Mar. 25.
Lancelot Du Lac will line up in the £150,000 Unibet All-Weather Sprint after winning a five-furlong fast-track qualifier at Chelmsford City Jan. 2, and Ivory said, “Lancelot Du Lac worked well on Friday and we are very pleased with him. It has been good to see the Chelmsford form working out so well. He is definitely more of a six-furlong horse but sometimes you have to go where the races are and take a chance, which is what we did.
He was very unlucky when he ran in the Unibet All-Weather Sprint Championships two years ago [finished eighth]. He was coming with his run but got caught for room on the rail a couple of times.”
Kadrizzi will take his place in the £150,000 Unibet Three-Year-Old Sprint Championships, having won a fast-track qualifier Feb. 7. He finished second in a five-furlong Wolverhampton conditions race Mar. 4.
“It was a good, solid run at Wolverhampton last time,” Ivory said. “A good horse beat him, although we got stuck on the rail, which is where we didn't want to be. I didn't overdo Kadrizzi for that either because the big one isn't that far away. I don't think he likes that Tapeta [at Wolverhampton] as it rides a bit slow. Providing we get a good draw, I think we will give the winner a run for his money back at Lingfield. [Jockey] Robert [Winston] said Kadrizzi is far better around there than at Wolverhampton.”
