Death Of Group 1 Stallion Apsis

Apsis | Coolagown Stud

The Group 1 producing stallion Apsis (GB) (Barathea {Ire}–Apogee (GB), by Shirley Heights {GB}) had to be euthanised earlier this week due to injuries sustained at Coolagown Stud in County Cork. Cooolagown's David Stack had leased the 15-year-old from Pascal Noue's Haras de la Hetraie with the stallion attracting plenty of interest from Irish breeders keen to tap into his ability to produce smart winners on the flat and over jumps. Apsis is the sire of Les Beaufs (Fr) whose finest hour came when winning the G1 Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp in 2012. Bred and raced by Juddmonte, Apsis won six races when trained by Andre Fabre, the highlight coming in his victory over Turtle Bowl (Ire) (Dyhim Diamond {Ire}) in the G3 Prix du Chemin de Fer du Nord over a mile at Chantilly in 2006.
