Nyquist Fine after Work

Updated: April 24, 2016 at 10:06 pm

Trainer Doug O'Neill, who was at Keeneland to watch likely GI Kentucky Derby favorite Nyquist (Uncle Mo) work five furlongs in 1:01.80 Saturday morning before travelling on to Charles Town to watch Donworth (Tiznow) finish third in the GII Charles Town Classic, returned to Lexington Sunday morning to check in on his Classic contenders.

Nyquist looks great this morning and [GI Kentucky Oaks hopeful] Land Over Sea looks super,” O'Neill said. “Ideally, they will work next Saturday, but it could be Friday, Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather. Whatever day they work and come out of it good, they would ship to Churchill Downs the next day.”

GII Fair Grounds Oaks winner Land Over Sea (Bellamy Road) worked five furlongs Saturday in 1:02.20.

Donworth is expected to ship to Keeneland Monday and “then go to a clinic for four days to get a little spa treatment because he has been shipping a lot,” according to O'Neill.
