Matt Cumani recorded his first win as a licensed trainer Friday when British import Our Covenant (GB) (Raven's Pass) won a benchmark 64 his local debut at Bendigo. The 3-year-old gelding was the eighth runner saddled by Cumani, the son of famed British-based trainer Luca Cumani, since he opened his stable at Ballarat earlier this year.
“They are all running really well and they all look fantastic and I am surprised actually its gone so problem-free so far, so hopefully it will carry on next week when we've got a whole lot of runners,” Cumani told Racing.com.
Our Covenant was imported by Terry Henderson's OTI Racing syndicate, and Cumani was quick to pay credit to the owner.
“I couldn't have really done it without them so it's fantastic to have my first winner for them,” he said.
