Undefeated champion Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) returned to the worktab Sunday for the first time since her victory in the Apr. 9 GI Santa Anita Oaks, breezing a half-mile in :46.40 (3/59) at Santa Anita and galloping out five furlongs in :59.20.

“She did it easy,” trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said. “She's doing fine. If she comes out of it good and everything's OK, she'll continue on.”

The “TDN Rising Star” was withdrawn from GI Kentucky Oaks consideration after spiking a fever that forced her to miss training a few days after her Santa Anita Oaks victory. The Fox Hill Farms runner is scheduled to make her next start in Arcadia's GII Summertime Oaks June 18.

Also breezing in Arcadia Sunday was fellow Eclipse winner Stellar Wind (Curlin), who is preparing for a showdown with three-time champion Beholder (Henny Hughes) in the GI Vanity Mile June 4. With regular rider Victor Espinoza in the irons, the chestnut covered six furlongs in 1:13.60 (8/14), working in company with stablemate Too Fast to Pass (With Distinction) who was clocked in 1:14.40.

“Too Fast to Pass was a length in front of me,” Espinoza said. “This is the second time I worked Stellar Wind since she's come back. She looks great and she galloped out strong [seven furlongs in 1:26.40]. So far, so good.”
