Persuasive Keeps Her Perfect Tag In the Sandringham

Persuasive | Racing Post

Off the mark on debut over this trip on debut at Kempton Nov. 4, Persuasive returned to score over the same distance at Goodwood May 20 before adding another handicap to her record on Chelmsford's Polytrack at the start of the month. Justifying strong support here, she closed out the second day of Royal Ascot as the first had gone with a win for the John Gosden stable. Settled behind the leaders on what appears to be a hugely favoured strip of ground towards the far side early, the grey swooped to the lead passing the quarter pole and stayed on strongly to win with authority.

“She is a lovely filly and she didn't really like the ground too much,” Frankie Dettori said. “Everything went to plan and she put it to bed at the furlong pole. She is improving and we can try something bigger next time.”

John Gosden added, “It's been a plan, as she missed a lot of time in the winter and so I had to get a third run into her to be eligible to run. I was hopeful and I did feel if I had a banker for the week, this was it. She is a sweet, lovely filly and she's done it well. This is Frankie's minimum weight and he is riding very well.”

Persuasive is the second winner out of MGSP dual stakes winner Choose Me (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}), herself out of a winning half-sister to four black-type performers including GSWs Prolix (GB) (Kris {GB}) and Bad Bertrich Again (Ire) (Dowsing). The winner's fourth dam is the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas and G1 Champion S. heroine Cairn Rouge (Ire) (Pitcairn {Ire}) and she is kin to the 2-year-old filly Tisbutadream (Ire) (Dream Ahead) and a yearling filly by Iffraaj {GB}).
