The top three finishers from Pimlico's May 20 Hilltop S., Gone Away (Leroidesanimaux {Brz}), Family Meeting (Sky Mesa) and Wessex (Unbridled's Song), will face off once again at Churchill Downs in the GIII Regret S. Saturday evening. Augustin Stable's Gone Away followed her second-out graduation last December with a third to Canadian Horse of the Year Catch a Glimpse (City Zip) in Gulfstream's GIII Herecomesthebride S. Feb. 27 and was fifth next out in a Keeneland allowance over soft ground two months later. The Michael Matz trainee came flying late to score a 13-1 upset by a head last time in Baltimore.
Glen Hill Farm homebred Family Meeting, winner of last term's GIII Jimmy Durante S., kicked off this term with a third in the GIII Florida Oaks at Tampa Mar. 12 and was fourth in the state-bred Sophomore Turf S. against males there Apr. 9 prior to her runner-up effort last time at Old Hilltop. Just a neck behind her in the Hilltop was Juddmonte homebred Wessex, who entered that test off a decisive debut win going nine furlongs at Gulfstream Apr. 2.
Sanford Robertson homebred Auntie Joy (Uncle Mo) gets the chance to get out of Catch a Glimpse's shadow in this test. Capturing a Gulfstream optional claimer Mar. 23, the Brendan Walsh pupil was fifth to the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner in the GIII Appalachian S. Apr. 14 and finished second to that rival in this venue's GIII Edgewood S. May 6.
Trainer Chad Brown can never be ignored when it comes to turf racing and he saddles Great Point Stables LLC's Noble Beauty (Kitten's Joy) in this event. Opening her account with a victory against $75,000 maiden claimers in Hallandale Feb. 25, the bay finished second in that venue's Honey Ryder S. May 7. Also of interest is Stefanie Carroll's Try Your Luck (Lookin at Lucky), who donned cap and gown by 9 1/4 lengths at Keeneland Apr. 23 and captured a course-and-distance allowance last time May 14. The Mike Maker charge gains the services of Hall of Famer Gary Stevens, who is in town to fill in for fellow Hall of Fame pilot Mike Smith on GI Stephen Foster H. favorite Effinex (Mineshaft).
