Tapit Filly the Easiest of Winners in Monmouth Debut

6th-MTH, $37,000, Msw, 6-18, 2yo, f, 5f, :59.30, ft.
+SWEET LORETTA (f, 2, Tapit–Ithinkisawapudycat {SP}, by Bluegrass Cat) completed a sweep of the day's two juvenile maiden events at the Jersey Shore for trainer Todd Pletcher, reporting home the easiest of winners as the 1-2 chalk. A $750,000 acquisition at Keeneland November in 2014, the filly posted a quartet of workouts over the local strip dating back to May 21. Tracking the pace from third as Mission Good Karma (Mission Impazible) set the pace through a quarter-mile in :22.62, the bay angled off the rail on the turn and effortlessly moved up to reach even terms with the leader on the turn. Widening from there, Sweet Loretta reported home seven lengths in front. Mission Good Karma held on to complete the exacta. The winner is a daughter of SP Ithinkisawapudycat, herself a half-sister to 2012 Canadian champion 2-year-old filly Spring in the Air (Spring at Last). Ithinkisawapudycat produced a full-brother to the winner last year and a filly by Street Sense earlier this year. This is also the extended family of MGSW and sire Tejano Run (Tejano). Pletcher sent out Bronson (Medaglia d'Oro) to a score in the second race. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $20,520. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
