“Soft Approach” For Fair Eva

Trainer Roger Charlton has revealed he plans to take a “soft approach” with Fair Eva (GB) (Frankel {GB}), who heads the market for next year's G1 Qipco 1000 Guineas after breaking her maiden by four lengths at Newbury June 8. The chestnut daughter of Group 1-winning sprinter African Rose (GB) (Observatory {GB}), who, like her famed sire, races as a homebred for Khalid Abdullah, is set for a second start at Newbury next Thursday.

“We thought we would go with a more soft approach,” Charlton said. “Hopefully she will run in a six-furlong novice contest at Newbury a week on Thursday.”

Charlton noted the form of Fair Eva's debut has thus far been franked. “The filly that finished third behind her [Miss Infinity] won at Ayr, and both she and the second [Nations Alexander] are entered in the Empress S. on Saturday.”

“After [Newbury], if that goes according to plan, we will step her up in to listed or group-race company,” he added.

Charlton said Fair Eva's mind has thus far been on the job.

“She is very professional and always has been,” he said. “She is a nice-natured filly that takes everything in her stride. I don't over cook them. She took everything in her stride at Haydock. She lead the group down and didn't duck and dive about.”

Of the positive start for Frankel at stud, Charlton added, “I think it is very good for racing and good for everybody. The name of Frankel is firmly printed on people's minds that didn't follow it before.”
