Lady Bamford's high class homebred full-brothers Eagle Top (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and Wings Of Desire (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) have been penciled in for separate Group 1 French missions over the next few weeks. Eagle Top, just touched off by Postponed (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) in last year's King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S. at Ascot, has been performing below par in recent runs and will bid to bounce back to his best in Sunday's G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
“Eagle Top is going to run in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, ground permitting,” said Hugo Lascelles, Lady Bamford's racing manager. “That's what we are aiming for and after that we will just take it one step at a time with him.”
Wings Of Desire, trained like his brother by John Gosden, was last seen in action when finishing fourth in the G1 Investec Derby, having previously landed the G2 Betfred Dante S. at York and he too has a French Grand Prix on the agenda, the Paris version in July.
“Wings Of Desire goes for the [G1] Grand Prix de Paris on July 14,” said Lascelles. “He has not done much since the Derby, but he is in good form. The key to him is better ground and we won't be running him if it's soft.”
