Pretty City Dancer scored a convincing victory in the Debutante S. to give John Oxley and Mark Casse a sweep of the closing night 2-year-old stakes at Churchill Downs. The gray was bet down to 3-2 in her May 5 debut, but missed the break and ran greenly throughout the lane before finishing third. Off poorly again 22 days later, the expensive auction purchase was good enough to overcome the deficit and prevail by 2 3/4 lengths. Away better in here under Julien Leparoux, Pretty City Dancer still sat second-last early on as the leaders blitzed through a :21.60 quarter-mile. Making a menacing four-wide advance on the latter stages of the turn, she willingly took over at the top of the stretch and was never seriously threatened from there. Anna's Banditcompleted the exacta. The same Oxley/Casse/Leparoux connections captured the GIII Bashford Manor S. one race earlier with the ultra-impressive Classic Empire (Pioneerof the Nile). The winner is a half to Lear's Princess who upset Rags to Riches (A.P. Indy) in the 2007 GI Gazelle S. Her dam is a half to GISW millionaire My Big Boy (Our Hero) and SW Forever Command (Top Command). She most recently produced a yearling full-brother to the winner.
