James Fanshawe is keeping an open mind over what route to take with his exciting sprinter The Tin Man (GB) (Equiano {Fr}). Tom Queally rode the 4-year-old with supreme confidence to win the G3 Bet365 Hackwood S. at Newbury on Saturday.
His trainer reported on Sunday, “He pulled out fine this morning and we'll just play it by ear as to what we do next. We'll see how
the horse is in the next week or 10 days and go from there.”
The Tin Man, a half-brother to the former Fanshawe-trained Group 1 winner Deacon Blues (GB) (Compton Place {GB}), has yet to race over five furlongs, but Fanshawe could try the gelding over the minimum trip in the G1 Coolmore Nunthorpe S. at York next month.
“He is in the race at York and he's also in the [G3] Phoenix Sprint at the Curragh [Aug 7],” Fanshawe continued. “The races I really want to go for are the [G1] Sprint Cup at Haydock in September and the [G1] Champions Sprint at Ascot in October, those are the races I'm targeting, so it's just a case of where we go in between.”
