Group 1-winning juvenile Robin Of Navan (Fr) (American Post {GB}), 11th in the G1 Prix du Jockey Club June 5, has recovered from an injury sustained in that Chantilly Classic and will point to the G1 St Leger at Doncaster Sept. 10, trainer Harry Dunlop told At The Races.

“He came back from France wrong and was lame behind,” Dunlop explained. “It transpired he'd pulled a little ligament running into his hock. Thankfully, we're back on track and he's started back with strong work. Fingers crossed, he seems okay.”

Robin Of Navan has had just two runs this year, having finished second to Cloth Of Stars (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) in the G2 Prix Greffulhe May 8.

“I've put him in the Leger. I think I had to with a colt like him to have a final shot at a Classic,” Dunlop said. “I don't really know if he'll stay. He's got quite a bit of speed in his pedigree but he won a Group 1 as a 2-year-old over a mile-and-a-quarter. He probably has to go for a couple of racecourse gallops before a race of that nature, but I think we'll just be guided by him a little bit.”

The British-based chestnut has made all but one of his eight starts in France, and Dunlop noted the plan is to continue to race him there in the future.

“We might take him back to France as he qualifies for the premiums, and that's an area we'd still like to exploit,” he said.
