G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Jet Setting (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}) will skip Thursday's G3 Fairy Bridge S. and head straight to the G1 Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron S. on Irish Champions Weekend Sept. 10. Trainer Adrian Keatley said he has decided to play it safe after a handful of horses in his yard have shown signs of a virus, but noted Jet Setting has a clean bill of health.
“We're going to go straight to the Matron with her,” Keatley said. “There's no problem with her, but the last few runners I had–a couple last weekend and one the week before–came home showing little signs of a bit of a virus. We're doing tests at the moment and I want to make sure everything is right before I run any more horses.”
“She's 100%,” Keatley reiterataed. “The Fairy Bridge wasn't in the long-term plans, but it was an early-closing entry so we had to enter. She's a very clear-winded filly and we won't have any issues going straight to the Matron.”
Also in the frame for the Matron is G1 Coronation S. and G1 Prix Rothschild victress Qemah (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}). Harry Herbert, racing advisor to owner Al Shaqab Racing, said,
“The Matron is still the plan. She's in good form and Ireland is very much the plan. I saw [trainer] Jean-Claude [Rouget] last week and he was very pleased with her.”
