Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) was the subject of a positive bulletin from trainer Chris Waller ahead of her next scheduled appearance in the G2 Chelmsford S. at Randwick next Saturday. “Everything is good and well,” Waller told Racing And Sports. “She'll have a couple of quiet gallops before the next target which is the Chelmsford on the way to the [G1] George Main S.”
The latter race at Randwick Sept. 17 will be her final race in Sydney before she travels to Melbourne to defend her title in the G1 Cox Plate. While Waller has a list of races he would like to target he is reluctant too set anything in stone knowing full well competing at the top level can take a lot out of horses. “We take it one run at a time with a horse like her but while she's winning well and pulling up well she's always got another race in sight,” he said. “If we can look after her and protect her you'll get more out of her later.”
