Hobbs Nearing Return

Jack Hobbs | Racing Post

John Gosden has struggled this season to match his stellar results that saw him crowned champion trainer in Britain last year. The retirement of Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) and injuries to the likes of Jack Hobbs (GB) (Halling) and Shalaa (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) left a void in the yard that is difficult to replace. However Gosden has issued an upbeat report on last year's G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby winner who is nearing a return to the track. “I am very pleased with Jack Hobbs at this minute in time. He's in good order and moving well. He is likely to run in the second or third week in September,” said Gosden. The 4-year-old carries the Godolphin silks and was expected to take a high rank among middle distance performers this season but for injuring his pelvis on his reappearance in the G2 Jockey Club S. at Newmarket in April. Jack Hobbs has an entry in the G1 QIPCO Champion S. at Ascot in October, a race he finished third in last year behind Fascinating Rock (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) and Found (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Jack Hobbs has a yearling half-sister by Sepoy (Aus) (Elusive Quality {Aus}) in Tattersalls October Book 1 offered as lot 356  by his breeder Willie Carson's Minster Stud.
