Unbeaten and untested Cal-bred Enola Gray (Grazen) makes her graded stakes debut in Sunday's GIII Torry Pines S. at Del Mar. A jaw-dropping 16 1/4-length winner sprinting at Santa Anita Apr. 10, she controlled the pace against an overmatched group going 8 1/2 panels in Arcadia's restricted Melair S. May 28. She cut back for the seven-furlong Fleet Treat S. here July 22, and the result was the same–a 7 3/4-length romp good for a career-best 100 Beyer Speed Figure. If someone is to play spoiler to the heavy chalk as she steps into open company for the first time, it is most likely to be her stablemate Bellamentary (Bellamy Road). The chestnut took the Angel Flight S. sprinting at Santa Anita May 15, and got to within 6 1/2 lengths of none other than dominant divisional leader Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) when second in that venue's two-turn GII Summertime Oaks June 18. She's a Warrior (Majestic Warrior) was third to Songbird when still a maiden in the Apr. 9 GI Santa Anita Oaks, but failed to land a blow when again in tough in the GII Black-Eyed Susan S. at Pimlico May 20. She finally earned her diploma over track and trip last time July 27.
