NEGUEV (IRE) (c, 2, So You Think {NZ}–Lady Bering {GB}, by Bering {GB}), who was demoted to second after passing the post first going 7 1/2 panels at this track last time Aug. 9, raced under a firm grip in fifth for most the most part here. Making smooth forward progress up the inner on the home turn, the 2-5 chalk gained a slender advantage at the top of the straight and kept on well, despite cocking his head to one side in the closing stages, to prevail by a snug half length from Manahir (Fr) (Naaqoos {GB}), becoming the first winner for his freshman sire (by High Chaparral {Ire}). The €120,000 ARAUG yearling is a grandson of the stakes-winning Light Step (Nureyev), who is a half-sister to four black-type performers including MG1SP G2 Royal Lodge S. and G3 Vintage S. victor Eltish (Cox's Ridge), and GIII Los Angeles H. winner Forest Gazelle (Green Forest), from a family which also includes GI Pacific Classic hero Skimming (Nureyev) and G1 1000 Guineas-winning European highweight Wince (GB) (Selkirk). Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, €17,500.
