Thursday's Child and Our Mim's Horse Retirement Haven have joined forces to auction off halters to benefit both organizations. Thursday's Child is a nonprofit organization that works to place foster kids with adoptive families in Kentucky and was started September 1989 and to date has facilitated over 2000 successful adoptions. Our Mim's, founded in 2006, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and care of retired racehorses.
Starquine.com will conduct the online auction, which will begin Sept. 30 and run through Oct. 5. Some auctions will be designated to last through a live and silent auction to be held at Equus Run Vineyards in Lexington Oct. 6. Also included in the auction are worn horseshoes from horses that are still racing as well as other horse racing memorabilia that is been donated.
Some of the halters on offer have been worn by American PHaroah, Royal Delta, Pioneerof the Nile, Empire Maker, Littleprincessemma, Curlin, Havre de Grace, Better Than Honour, Giant's Causeway, Ouija Board, California Chrome, Runhappy, Stellar Wind and Shackleford.
