Made Me Shiver legitimized a strong debut effort and bounced back from an off-the-board finish at Saratoga to conquer the Sorority S. at Monmouth. The bay dominated by 5 3/4 lengths first out going 4 1/2 furlongs at Churchill June 17 before getting caught up in a supersonic pace when finishing fourth in the GIII Schuylerville S. July 22 at the Spa. Well supported as the chalk here, Made Me Shiver came away third and stalked the pace, a half-length off a :22.37 quarter. Drawing alongside the leader at the top of the lane, she easily ran away past the eighth pole and held sway late to become the first stakes winner for her freshman sire. The winner's unraced dam is a full-sister to GISW millionaire Tiz Miz Sue. Her most recent produce is a yearling colt by Bernardini; she was bred back to Atreides in 2016. “With babies, you always have to play the break first,” winning jockey Antonio Gallardo said. “Steve [Asmussen] never gave me any instructions. He said to just play it by the break. Once the gates opened, we had the perfect trip. I put her in the clear on the outside and just sat behind the speed. She was very comfortable and at the quarter pole I asked her to run and she took off.”
