JOUST (f, 2, War Front–Queen's Play, by Kingmambo) reported home third behind 'TDN Rising Star' Coasted (Tiznow) in what is emerging as a key Saratoga maiden over 8 1/2 furlongs Aug. 7. The 4-5 chalk in this return, the Robert S. Evans homebred sat just behind her chief market rival Clearly Claire (Candy Ride {Arg}) early, turned up the heat on that one at the five-sixteenths and came away late to a soft 3 1/4-length victory in the Sunday opener at Kentucky Downs. A homebred out of a half-sister to Evans's accomplished turf runner Marsh Side (Gone West), Joust was a 5-1 gamble in that Saratoga maiden ultimately won by next-out P. G. Johnson S. winner Coasted and recent maiden winner Dream Dancing (Tapit), finishing nearly eight lengths behind in third. Joust is also a half-sister to Attendant (More Than Ready), SP, $190,093. Joust is the latest offspring of Queen's Play, who was bred to Stormy Atlantic this spring. The winner's second dam Colonial Play (Pleasant Colony), who won the GII Orchid H., is a full to champion and GISW Pleasant Stage (Pleasant Colony) and GSW Stage Colony (Pleasant Colony). Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $86,300. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
