Tapit Half to BC Classic Winner Does His Part at KEESEP

Tapit

An Eaton Sales-consigned son of Tapit whose half-brother Mucho Macho Man (Macho Uno) took a thrilling renewal of the GI Breeders' Cup Classic in 2013, was hammered down for an even $2 million Wednesday afternoon as the third and final Book 1 session of the Keeneland September sale rolled on in Lexington. George Isaacs signed the wining ticket on behalf of a partnership between John Malone's Bridlewood Farm and Coolmore. The gray colt is a son on Ponche de Leona (Ponche), who was purchased in foal to Distored Humor by Betty Moran's Brushwood Stable for $775,000 at the 2014 Keeneland January Sale, the top price at the event. Cataloged as hip 561, the April foal saw his page updated just last weekend when his full-sister Southern Girl won the Shine Again S. at Laurel Park. Ponche de Leona was bred to Tapit in 2015, but did not produce a foal this season and was part of the first book of mares to visit Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.
